- 1 cup heavy cream or whole milk

- 1 1/2 cups crispy fried onions (divided)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar or parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Blanch green beans in boiling salted water for 3β4 minutes. Drain and transfer to an ice bath to stop cooking. Set aside.
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions, garlic, and mushrooms, cooking until softened and golden, about 5β6 minutes.
- Sprinkle in the flour and stir for 1 minute to form a roux. Gradually whisk in broth and cream until the sauce thickens.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in green beans, half of the fried onions, and cheese (if using).
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and bake uncovered for 20 minutes.
- Top with remaining fried onions and bake an additional 5β7 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
