  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère or cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh thyme (optional, for garnish)

  1. Preheat oven: Set to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Prepare cream mixture: In a saucepan, melt butter and sauté garlic for 1 minute. Add cream, milk, salt, pepper, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Warm gently (do not boil).
  3. Layer: Arrange sweet potato slices in layers in the baking dish, sprinkling cranberries between layers.
  4. Add cream: Pour the warm cream mixture evenly over the sweet potatoes.
  5. Top: Sprinkle Gruyère and Parmesan cheese over the top.
  6. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  7. Serve: Let rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with thyme if desired.

Notes
