- 1 lb (450g) ground beef or turkey
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 2 cans (15 oz each) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro
Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the ground meat over medium-high heat and drain excess fat.
- Add onion, garlic, and bell peppers. Sauté for 4–5 minutes until softened.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook 1–2 minutes to toast the spices.
- Add diced tomatoes and beans. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 25–30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Adjust seasoning as needed. Serve hot with optional garnishes like cheese, sour cream, or cilantro.
Notes
For richer flavor, simmer longer or add a splash of beer or tomato paste. This stovetop chili is quick, easy, and perfect for weeknight meals.
