  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup whole milk or heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Topping:
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Boil or steam sweet potatoes until fork-tender, about 15 minutes. Drain well.
  3. Mash sweet potatoes until smooth, then mix in maple syrup, butter, brown sugar, eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Spread mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  5. In a small bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, pecans, and melted butter for the topping.
  6. Sprinkle topping evenly over the sweet potato mixture.
  7. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, until topping is golden brown and crisp.
