- 40 saltine crackers (about 1 sleeve)
- 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: chopped nuts, crushed candy canes, or festive sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with aluminum foil and arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar together over medium heat, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil and cook for 3 minutes without stirring.
- Pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the crackers and spread with a spatula.
- Bake for 5β6 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
- Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let sit 2β3 minutes, then spread evenly once melted.
- Top with chopped nuts, crushed candy canes, or festive sprinkles if desired.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, then break into pieces and enjoy!
