- 40 saltine crackers (about 1 sleeve)
- 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional toppings: crushed candy canes, chopped nuts, festive sprinkles, or sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with aluminum foil and spray lightly with non-stick spray.
- Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer across the bottom of the pan.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar together over medium heat, stirring constantly. Once melted, bring to a boil and cook for 3 minutes without stirring.
- Carefully pour the hot toffee over the crackers and spread evenly with a spatula.
- Bake for 5 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.
- Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let sit 2β3 minutes, then spread melted chocolate evenly.
- Add your favorite toppings such as nuts, candy canes, or sprinkles.
- Refrigerate for 1β2 hours until firm. Break into pieces and enjoy!
