Description

Ingredients

  • 6 ripe pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Toss sliced pears with lemon juice, 1/3 cup brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread evenly in the dish.
  3. In a bowl, combine oats, flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and nuts. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Sprinkle oat topping evenly over the pears.
  5. Bake for 35–40 minutes, until topping is golden and pears are tender.
  6. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

For a vegan version, use coconut oil or vegan butter and serve with dairy-free ice cream. Swap in maple syrup for a richer sweetness.
