- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp dried culinary lavender
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp honey
- For the Honey Buttercream:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp honey
- 1–2 tsp milk (if needed for consistency)
- Pinch of salt
- Optional garnish: dried lavender buds or a drizzle of honey

- Infuse milk: Warm milk gently, add lavender, and steep for 10 minutes. Strain and cool.
- Preheat oven: 175°C / 350°F and line cupcake pan with liners.
- Mix dry ingredients: Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cream butter & sugar: Beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla and honey.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and lavender-infused milk until smooth.
- Fill liners 2/3 full and bake 18–20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool completely before frosting.
- Make honey buttercream: Beat butter until creamy, then add powdered sugar, honey, salt, and milk as needed. Whip until fluffy.
- Pipe frosting onto cooled cupcakes and garnish with dried lavender or a drizzle of honey.
Notes
Adjust lavender amount carefully to avoid overpowering flavor. Chill buttercream if too soft before piping. Store in the refrigerator and bring to room temperature before serving.
