  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef or pork
  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • For the sauce:
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish

  1. Preheat oven: Set oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Make meatballs: In a bowl, combine ground meat, panko, egg, garlic, ginger, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until combined.
  3. Form meatballs: Shape into 1–1.5 inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake meatballs: Bake for 15–20 minutes until cooked through.
  5. Make sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Simmer 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Glaze meatballs: Toss cooked meatballs in the sauce until evenly coated.
  7. Serve: Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve over rice, noodles, or as an appetizer with toothpicks.

Notes

These meatballs can also be pan-fried or air-fried for a crispier texture. Adjust honey or spice level to taste.
