Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3 cups peeled and chopped apples (about 3 medium)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • Optional: chopped pecans or walnuts for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Press about 2/3 of the crumb mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust.
  4. In a separate bowl, toss apples with granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread evenly over crust.
  5. Drizzle salted caramel sauce over the apples.
  6. Sprinkle remaining crumb mixture over the top, optionally adding nuts.
  7. Bake for 35–40 minutes, until golden and apples are tender.
  8. Cool completely before cutting into bars and serving.

Notes

For extra indulgence, drizzle more salted caramel on top when serving. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
