Ingredients
Ingredients
For the Blackberry Syrup
- 2 cups fresh blackberries
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
For the Lemonade
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 5–6 lemons)
- 4 cups cold water
- 2 cups ice cubes
Optional Garnishes
- Fresh blackberries
- Lemon slices
- Fresh mint sprigs
- Ice cubes
Instructions
Instructions
- Make the blackberry syrup: Combine blackberries, sugar, and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Simmer for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the berries soften.
- Strain the syrup: Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl or pitcher, pressing the berries to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the seeds and let the syrup cool.
- Mix the lemonade: In a large pitcher, combine the cooled blackberry syrup, fresh lemon juice, and cold water. Stir well.
- Chill and serve: Add ice cubes and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes for the best flavor.
- Garnish: Pour into glasses and garnish with fresh blackberries, lemon slices, and mint before serving.
Notes
For a sparkling version, replace half of the cold water with chilled sparkling water just before serving. Frozen blackberries work well when fresh berries are unavailable. Store leftover lemonade in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
