  • 12 oz elbow macaroni
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Optional: 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs mixed with 2 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat and whisk in flour to form a roux for 1–2 minutes.
  4. Gradually add milk and cream, whisking until smooth and slightly thickened.
  5. Stir in cheddar, mozzarella, Parmesan, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until melted and creamy.
  6. Combine cooked macaroni with cheese sauce and pour into the prepared baking dish.
  7. Optional: sprinkle panko breadcrumbs mixed with melted butter on top for a golden crust.
  8. Bake 20–25 minutes until bubbly and lightly golden. Serve hot!
