- 12 oz elbow macaroni
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Optional: 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs mixed with 2 tbsp melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat and whisk in flour to form a roux for 1β2 minutes.
- Gradually add milk and cream, whisking until smooth and slightly thickened.
- Stir in cheddar, mozzarella, Parmesan, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until melted and creamy.
- Combine cooked macaroni with cheese sauce and pour into the prepared baking dish.
- Optional: sprinkle panko breadcrumbs mixed with melted butter on top for a golden crust.
- Bake 20β25 minutes until bubbly and lightly golden. Serve hot!
