- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup fruit jam or preserves (strawberry, raspberry, apricot, etc.)

- Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream butter & sugar: In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
- Gradually mix in flour and salt until dough forms.
- Shape cookies: Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on prepared baking sheets.
- Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to press an indentation in the center of each cookie.
- Fill each indentation with about 1/2 tsp of jam.
- Bake: Bake 12–15 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a festive touch, use different colored jams. Cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days. For a softer cookie, slightly underbake by 1–2 minutes.
