Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 3/4 cups sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup hot water or coffee
- Chocolate frosting and black fondant for decorating
- Red fondant ribbon and sugar holly for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch round pans and one smaller 6-inch pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat sugar, eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla until smooth. Gradually mix in dry ingredients, then stir in hot water or coffee.
- Pour into pans and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely.
- Stack the cakes to form the “hat” shape — use frosting between layers for stability.
- Frost the entire cake with chocolate buttercream or cover with black fondant. Add a red fondant ribbon and holly leaves to complete Frosty’s festive hat!
Notes
