Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 12 oz fettuccine pasta
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Instructions
- Cook pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook fettuccine according to package instructions. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water, then drain.
- Make sauce: In a large pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add cream: Pour in heavy cream and simmer for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add cheese: Reduce heat and stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
- Season: Add salt, pepper, and nutmeg if using.
- Combine: Add cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat. Use reserved pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan, then serve immediately.
Notes
Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best creamy texture — pre-shredded cheese may not melt smoothly. Serve immediately, as the sauce thickens as it cools. Add grilled chicken or shrimp for extra protein.
