  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk or heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • Topping:
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the drained canned yams until smooth.
  3. Add melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix until well combined.
  4. Pour the sweet potato mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  5. In a small bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, pecans, and melted butter to make the topping. Mix until crumbly.
  6. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the sweet potato mixture.
  7. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, or until the topping is golden and crisp.
