- 40 saltine crackers (about 1 sleeve)
- 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional toppings: crushed candy canes, chopped pecans, festive sprinkles, or flaky sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with aluminum foil and spray lightly with non-stick spray.
- Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer across the pan.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Bring to a boil and cook for 3 minutes without stirring.
- Pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the saltines and spread with a spatula.
- Bake for 5 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown.
- Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Let sit for 2 minutes, then spread the melted chocolate evenly.
- Add your favorite toppings β nuts, candy canes, or sprinkles β while the chocolate is still warm.
- Refrigerate for 1β2 hours until firm, then break into pieces and enjoy!
