- 40 Ritz crackers (about 1 sleeve)
- 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped pecans or almonds (optional)
- Optional toppings: crushed candy canes, sprinkles, or sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C). Line a 9×13-inch pan with foil or parchment paper and lightly grease.
- Arrange Ritz crackers in a single layer on the pan.
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil and cook for 3 minutes without stirring.
- Pour the hot caramel evenly over the crackers and spread with a spatula.
- Bake for 5 minutes until bubbly.
- Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Let sit 1β2 minutes, then spread evenly.
- Sprinkle chopped nuts or festive toppings over melted chocolate.
- Cool completely, then refrigerate for 1β2 hours until set. Break into pieces to serve.
