Easy Grilled Cheese Burrito Copycat Recipe: 5-Step Guide to Cheesy Bliss!

  • Author: recipeinspire
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 6 burritos 1x

Description

This Easy Grilled Cheese Burrito Copycat Recipe captures everything you love about the popular fast-food favorite—gooey melted cheese, seasoned beef, creamy sauce, rice, and a crispy grilled tortilla. Comforting, filling, and incredibly delicious!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup cooked seasoned rice
  • 1 cup nacho cheese sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup tortilla strips (or crushed tortilla chips)
  • 6 large flour tortillas
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for grilling)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until thickened.
  3. Warm tortillas to prevent tearing.
  4. Assemble burritos: spread a spoonful of nacho cheese sauce in the center, add seasoned rice, taco beef, a handful of tortilla strips, and a drizzle of sour cream.
  5. Sprinkle cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese over the filling.
  6. Roll the burrito tightly, folding in the sides as you go.
  7. Sprinkle extra shredded cheese onto a skillet. Place the burrito seam-side down on the cheese and grill over medium heat until the cheese forms a golden crust.
  8. Flip and grill the other side if desired.
  9. Serve warm with extra nacho cheese or sour cream.

Notes

Add seasoned black beans for more fiber or skip the beef and use plant-based crumbles for a vegetarian option. Make your rice extra flavorful by mixing in lime juice and cilantro. For a spicier version, add jalapeños or spicy ranch inside the burrito.
