- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups semisweet or milk chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped almonds or pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- In a heavy saucepan, melt the butter, sugar, and salt over medium heat. Stir constantly until the mixture reaches 300Β°F (hard crack stage).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour the hot toffee onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly.
- Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top and let sit for 2 minutes, then spread the melted chocolate evenly.
- Top with chopped nuts if desired.
- Allow to cool completely, then break into pieces and enjoy!
