Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semisweet or milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped almonds or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. In a heavy saucepan, melt the butter, sugar, and salt over medium heat. Stir constantly until the mixture reaches 300Β°F (hard crack stage).
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the hot toffee onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly.
  5. Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top and let sit for 2 minutes, then spread the melted chocolate evenly.
  6. Top with chopped nuts if desired.
  7. Allow to cool completely, then break into pieces and enjoy!
