- 1 sleeve (about 40) saltine crackers
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or festive sprinkles (optional)
- Pinch of sea salt (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil and lightly grease it.
- Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer to cover the entire pan.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Bring to a gentle boil and cook for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Pour the hot caramel mixture evenly over the crackers and spread it quickly to coat.
- Bake for 5 minutes until bubbly. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
- Let the chocolate melt for 2 minutes, then spread it evenly with a spatula.
- Top with chopped pecans, sprinkles, or sea salt. Cool completely, then break into pieces.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week (if it lasts that long!).
