- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped pecans or almonds (optional)
- Optional toppings: crushed candy canes, sprinkles, or sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C). Line a 9×13-inch pan with foil or parchment paper and lightly grease.
- Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer across the pan.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Bring to a boil and cook for 3 minutes without stirring.
- Pour the hot caramel evenly over the crackers and spread with a spatula.
- Bake for 5 minutes until bubbly and caramelized.
- Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Let sit 1β2 minutes, then spread evenly.
- Sprinkle chopped nuts or festive toppings over melted chocolate.
