Description

These Chocolate Date Caramel Apples are a healthier twist on the classic fall treat! Naturally sweetened with dates and coated in rich dark chocolate, they’re perfect for parties, Halloween, or a fun family dessert night.


Ingredients

  • 6 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best)
  • 12 Medjool dates, pitted
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1 1/2 cups dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • Toppings: chopped nuts, shredded coconut, mini chocolate chips, crushed pretzels (optional)
  • 6 wooden sticks

Instructions

  1. Prepare apples: Wash apples and pat dry thoroughly. Insert wooden sticks into the center of each apple.
  2. Make date caramel: In a blender or food processor, blend dates, hot water, vanilla, and salt until smooth and creamy.
  3. Coat apples: Spread or dip apples into the date caramel, then place on a parchment-lined tray. Chill for 15 minutes to set.
  4. Melt chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate chips and coconut oil in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  5. Dip in chocolate: Dip caramel-coated apples into melted chocolate, letting excess drip off. Roll in toppings if desired.
  6. Set: Place apples back on the tray and refrigerate until chocolate hardens. Enjoy!

Notes

For an extra indulgent version, drizzle with white chocolate after dipping. Store in the refrigerator and enjoy within 2–3 days.
