Description
Cherry-Plum Red Sangria is a sultry, fruit-forward twist on traditional sangria featuring juicy cherries, ripe plums, and bold red wine. This moody, summery punch is perfect for late summer nights, outdoor dinners, or festive gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 bottle (750ml) medium-bodied red wine (like Tempranillo or Zinfandel)
- ½ cup cherry juice (unsweetened or tart)
- ¼ cup brandy
- ¼ cup orange liqueur (such as Grand Marnier)
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey (optional, to taste)
- 1 cup fresh cherries, pitted and halved
- 2 plums, thinly sliced
- 1 orange, thinly sliced
- 1 lemon, sliced (optional)
- 1 cup sparkling water or cherry soda (added before serving)
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- Mix the Base: In a large pitcher, stir together the red wine, cherry juice, brandy, orange liqueur, and maple syrup or honey until well combined.
- Add the Fruit: Gently stir in cherries, plums, orange slices, and lemon if using.
- Chill: Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight to infuse the flavors.
- Finish & Serve: Right before serving, add sparkling water or cherry soda and ice. Stir gently and serve with fruit in each glass.
Notes
Dark sweet cherries and red or black plums work beautifully here. For a more tart version, use sour cherry juice and skip the sweetener. Garnish with a sprig of mint or rosemary for extra elegance.
