Description

A cozy sangria infused with the warm flavors of chai tea, red wine, citrus, and brandy. Perfect for fall and winter gatherings, it’s a unique twist on the classic sangria with aromatic spices.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle red wine (750 ml)
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur (optional)
  • 1 cup cooled brewed chai tea (strong)
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup (to taste)
  • 1 apple, thinly sliced
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 34 whole cloves
  • 2 star anise pods
  • Ice cubes, as needed

Instructions

  1. Brew a strong chai tea and let it cool completely.
  2. In a large pitcher, combine red wine, brandy, orange liqueur, and cooled chai tea.
  3. Sweeten with honey or maple syrup, stirring until dissolved.
  4. Add apple, orange, lemon slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise.
  5. Refrigerate for 2–4 hours (or overnight) to allow flavors to infuse.
  6. Before serving, stir gently and pour over ice in glasses.

Notes

For a white wine version, swap the red wine for Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio. You can also use chai concentrate instead of brewed tea for a stronger spice kick.
