- 1 cup heavy cream or milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 1/2 cups crispy fried onions (divided)

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Blanch green beans in boiling water for 3β4 minutes, then plunge into ice water. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions, garlic, and mushrooms; sautΓ© until tender.
- Sprinkle flour over vegetables, stir 1 minute, then gradually add broth and cream. Cook until thickened.
- Season with salt and pepper. Stir in green beans, half of the fried onions, and cheese (if using).
- Transfer to baking dish and bake 20 minutes.
- Top with remaining fried onions and bake 5β7 minutes until golden and crispy.
