- 1 loaf brioche or challah bread, cubed (about 10 cups)
- 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- 4 tbsp butter, melted
- For the crumble topping:
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 4 tbsp butter, cold and cubed
- Optional: maple syrup and powdered sugar for serving
Instructions
- Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and arrange the cubed bread evenly.
- Sprinkle blueberries over the bread.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Pour evenly over the bread mixture.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to soak.
- Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
- Prepare the crumble topping by mixing flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter until crumbly. Sprinkle evenly over casserole.
- Bake uncovered for 45β50 minutes until golden and set in the center.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Drizzle with maple syrup or dust with powdered sugar.
