Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup heavy cream or milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup grated Gruyère or Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (chives, parsley, or thyme)
  • Optional: diced ham, smoked salmon, or sautéed mushrooms

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease 4 small ramekins with butter.
  2. Crack one egg into each ramekin.
  3. Pour 1 tbsp cream or milk over each egg.
  4. Sprinkle cheese evenly on top and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Place ramekins in a baking dish and add hot water to come halfway up the sides.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until eggs are set but yolks are still slightly runny.
  7. Garnish with fresh herbs and optional toppings. Serve immediately!
