- 1/4 cup heavy cream or milk
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup grated Gruyère or Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh herbs for garnish (chives, parsley, or thyme)
- Optional: diced ham, smoked salmon, or sautéed mushrooms
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease 4 small ramekins with butter.
- Crack one egg into each ramekin.
- Pour 1 tbsp cream or milk over each egg.
- Sprinkle cheese evenly on top and season with salt and pepper.
- Place ramekins in a baking dish and add hot water to come halfway up the sides.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, until eggs are set but yolks are still slightly runny.
- Garnish with fresh herbs and optional toppings. Serve immediately!
