Ingredients
Scale
- For the Blondies:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup finely diced peeled apple (about 1 medium apple)
- For the Maple Cream Cheese Frosting:
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Make the Blondies: In a bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar. Stir in egg and vanilla. Add flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Fold in diced apples.
- Spread batter evenly in prepared pan. Bake for 25–28 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool completely.
- Make the Frosting: Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add maple syrup, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Gradually add powdered sugar until creamy.
- Frost cooled blondies and slice into squares. Chill for cleaner cuts and enjoy!
Notes
Use tart apples like Granny Smith for balance. For a deeper flavor, brown the butter before mixing it into the batter. Store covered in the fridge for up to 4 days.
