Description

These Vanilla French Beignets are light, airy, and perfectly golden pillows of fried dough infused with warm vanilla flavor. Coated generously in powdered sugar, they’re the ultimate treat for breakfast, brunch, or a cozy afternoon indulgence—classic, irresistible, and surprisingly simple to make!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of the sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Whisk in the remaining sugar, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt.
  3. Gradually add flour and mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 3–4 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  6. Roll the dough into a 1/4-inch thick rectangle. Cut into 2-inch squares.
  7. Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Fry dough squares in batches for 1–2 minutes per side, until golden and puffed.
  9. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  10. Generously dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Serve immediately for the freshest, fluffiest results. For extra flavor, dust with cinnamon sugar or dip in chocolate or caramel sauce. You can refrigerate the dough overnight for next-day frying—just let it warm slightly before rolling out.
