Description

Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies are an American classic, beloved for their chewy texture and perfect balance of sweet, buttery, and chocolatey flavors. This iconic recipe was created by Ruth Wakefield in the 1930s and has been a household favorite ever since. Get ready to bake a batch of irresistible homemade cookies that will satisfy your sweet tooth.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks), room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. Set this aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the butter, granulated sugar, light-brown sugar, and salt until the mixture is creamy and smooth.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips using a spatula or wooden spoon.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of cookie dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving enough space between them for spreading.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 9-11 minutes or until the edges are golden but the centers are still soft.
  9. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
