- 6 cups cubed day-old bread
- 1 lb breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
- 8 large eggs
- 2 1/2 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Nonstick spray or butter for greasing

- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spread bread cubes evenly in the bottom of the dish.
- Top with cooked sausage and shredded cheeses.
- In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Pour egg mixture evenly over the casserole.
- Cover tightly with foil and refrigerate overnight (at least 8 hours).
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Remove casserole from fridge and rest at room temperature for 20 minutes.
- Bake covered for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake 20–25 minutes until set and golden.
- Let rest 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
You can customize with bacon, ham, or vegetables like bell peppers and spinach. Leftovers reheat beautifully and can be frozen for later.
