Ingredients

  • 12 oz (340g) fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp orange zest (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  2. Add cranberries, orange zest, cinnamon, and salt. Return to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cranberries burst and sauce thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature. The sauce will thicken more as it cools.
  5. Transfer to a serving dish or jar. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
