Ingredients
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Optional: chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
Instructions
- Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium-high heat. Sear chicken 3–4 minutes per side until golden but not fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté mushrooms and onions until softened. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds more.
- Sprinkle flour over vegetables and stir to combine. Gradually add chicken broth while stirring to prevent lumps.
- Stir in heavy cream and paprika. Bring to a simmer until thickened.
- Return chicken to the skillet. Spoon gravy over chicken and cook 5–10 minutes until chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Optional: garnish with chopped parsley and serve with mashed potatoes or rice.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate chicken in a bit of garlic and paprika beforehand. Adjust creaminess of gravy by adding more or less heavy cream.
