- 1 lb (450g) ground beef or turkey
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1–2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro
Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the meat over medium heat and drain excess fat.
- Add onion and garlic. Sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook 1 minute to release flavors.
- Add diced tomatoes and beans. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Serve hot with optional toppings.
