Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef or turkey
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 12 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, brown the meat over medium heat and drain excess fat.
  2. Add onion and garlic. Sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook 1 minute to release flavors.
  4. Add diced tomatoes and beans. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
  5. Serve hot with optional toppings.
