These Spiderweb Chocolate Cookies are rich, fudgy, and decorated with spooky spiderweb icing—perfect for Halloween parties or festive fall gatherings.

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
- 1/2 cup white chocolate or royal icing (for spiderwebs)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in egg and vanilla until smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet mixture. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Scoop dough into balls, place on baking sheet, and bake for 8–10 minutes until set.
- Let cookies cool completely before decorating.
- Pipe white chocolate or icing in circles, then drag a toothpick outward to create a spiderweb design.
Notes
For extra spookiness, add candy spiders or mini plastic spider decorations on top (remove before eating).
