- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp ground ginger

- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- For Decorating
- Icing, sprinkles, chocolate chips, or candies
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in egg, molasses, and vanilla until smooth.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
- Chill dough for at least 1 hour for easier rolling.
- Roll dough to 1/4 inch thick and cut into gingerbread men shapes using cookie cutters.
- Place cookies on prepared baking sheets 1 inch apart.
- Bake 8–10 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft.
- Cool 5 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Decorate with icing, sprinkles, or candies as desired.
Notes
Chilling the dough helps prevent spreading and keeps the shapes crisp. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week. Perfect for holiday gift-giving and cookie decorating parties!
