- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup chocolate chips (or mix-ins of choice)

- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Mix in egg yolk and vanilla extract until combined.
- Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt just until incorporated.
- Fold in chocolate chips or desired mix-ins.
- Scoop dough into 5–6 balls and place on prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are set and centers are slightly soft.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Do not overbake—cookies will continue to set as they cool. You can swap chocolate chips for M&Ms, chopped nuts, or sprinkles.
