  • 2 lbs flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional but recommended)
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

  1. Add sliced beef to the slow cooker.
  2. In a bowl, whisk soy sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, garlic, ginger, hoisin sauce, and red pepper flakes.
  3. Pour sauce over the beef and stir to coat.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 5–6 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours.
  5. Whisk cornstarch with water and stir into crockpot.
  6. Cook an additional 20–30 minutes until sauce thickens.
  7. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
  8. Serve over rice or noodles.

Notes

For extra vegetables, add sliced bell peppers or broccoli during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
