  • 2 lbs (900 g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into chunks
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 can (15 oz / 425 g) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or coconut cream
  • 1/4 cup butter (unsalted)
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped, for garnish

  1. Prepare chicken & aromatics: Place chicken, onion, garlic, and ginger in slow cooker.
  2. Add spices & sauce: Stir in tomato sauce, garam masala, paprika, turmeric, cayenne (if using), salt, and pepper.
  3. Cook: Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until chicken is tender.
  4. Add butter & cream: About 15–20 minutes before serving, stir in butter and heavy cream. Adjust seasoning as needed.
  5. Serve: Garnish with fresh cilantro. Serve with basmati rice or naan bread.

Notes

For a richer flavor, marinate chicken in yogurt and spices for a few hours before cooking. Leftovers taste even better the next day.
