- 3 lb chuck roast
- 1 packet onion soup mix
- 1 packet brown gravy mix
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (optional, for thickening)
- Mashed potatoes, for serving
- Optional garnish: chopped parsley

- Place chuck roast in the slow cooker.
- Sprinkle onion soup mix, gravy mix, garlic powder, and pepper over the roast.
- Pour beef broth around the roast.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 8–9 hours or HIGH for 4–5 hours until beef is fork-tender.
- Remove roast and shred with forks.
- Return shredded beef to the slow cooker.
- If thicker gravy is desired, stir in cornstarch slurry and cook 10–15 minutes on HIGH.
- Serve beef over mashed potatoes with gravy.
Notes
This dish is traditionally served open-faced over bread or mashed potatoes. Add mushrooms or onions for extra flavor if desired.
