  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp black pepper (or more to taste)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss sliced steak with 2 tbsp soy sauce and cornstarch. Let marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add steak and sear until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add onions and bell peppers to the pan. Stir-fry until slightly tender but still crisp.
  4. Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant.
  5. Return steak to the pan.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together beef broth, soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, sesame oil, and black pepper.
  7. Pour sauce over the steak and vegetables. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until sizzling and thickened.
  8. Serve hot over warm white rice.

Notes

💡 Tip: For ultra-tender steak, slice beef against the grain and keep the pan very hot! Add chili flakes or sliced jalapeños for heat.
