    • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup pure maple syrup
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups pecans, chopped or halved
  • 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt (plus extra for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. For crust: cream butter and sugar until light. Mix in flour and salt until combined. Press into prepared pan and bake 15 minutes.
  3. For filling: whisk together maple syrup, brown sugar, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla. Stir in pecans and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  4. Pour filling over pre-baked crust.
  5. Bake 25–30 minutes, until filling is set and golden.
  6. Cool completely in the pan, then sprinkle with extra flaky sea salt.
  7. Cut into bars and serve. Store in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge.

Notes

For extra richness, drizzle with melted chocolate before serving. Bars keep up to 5 days refrigerated.
