- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup caramel bits or soft caramel squares, chopped
- Optional: 1/4 tsp flaky sea salt for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together butter, cream cheese, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
- Fold in caramel bits.
- Drop rounded tablespoon-sized dough balls onto baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are lightly golden and centers are set but soft.
- Optional: Sprinkle a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt on each cookie while warm.
- Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Use soft caramel bits for even melting. Slightly underbake for soft, chewy centers. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days. These cookies are perfect for dessert platters or holiday gifting!
