Description
Salami Mozzarella Eyeballs are creepy yet delicious Halloween appetizers made with fresh mozzarella balls wrapped in salami and topped with olives and ketchup or hot sauce for a bloody, realistic touch. Perfect for spooky spreads or horror-themed snack boards!
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 mini mozzarella balls (bocconcini)
- 12 slices of salami
- 6 black olives, sliced into rings
- Ketchup or hot sauce (for “blood” effect)
- Fresh parsley or basil for garnish (optional)
- Toothpicks (optional for serving)
Instructions
- Wrap the mozzarella: Lay a slice of salami flat and place a mozzarella ball in the center. Wrap the salami around the cheese to form a sphere, leaving a bit of the top exposed.
- Top with olive: Press an olive slice on top of each mozzarella ball to resemble a pupil.
- Add the blood effect: Drizzle a small amount of ketchup or hot sauce from the olive outward to mimic bloodshot veins.
- Chill: Refrigerate until ready to serve. Use toothpicks if serving as finger food.
- Optional: Garnish the platter with parsley or basil for a touch of green contrast.
Notes
These eyeballs are perfect for Halloween charcuterie boards! Use green olives with pimentos for a different ‘eye color’ or spicy vibe. Make up to a day in advance and refrigerate.
