  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard (optional)
  • Salt, to taste

  1. Prepare chicken: Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C). Season chicken with salt and pepper.
  2. Bread chicken: Set up three bowls: flour, beaten eggs, and crushed pretzels mixed with garlic powder and paprika. Dredge chicken in flour, dip in eggs, then coat in pretzels.
  3. Bake or pan-fry: Place chicken on a greased baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil or butter, and bake 22–25 minutes until golden and cooked through. (Or pan-fry in a skillet over medium heat 4–5 minutes per side.)
  4. Make sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute. Slowly whisk in milk until smooth and thickened.
  5. Add cheddar cheese and stir until melted. Whisk in Dijon and yellow mustard. Season with salt.
