Description
This Peach Bacon Jam is the perfect balance of smoky, sweet, tangy, and savory. Fresh peaches, crispy bacon, and caramelized onions come together in a jammy, spreadable condiment that elevates everything from burgers to cheese boards.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb bacon, chopped
- 1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
- 2 cups fresh peaches, peeled and diced (or use frozen/thawed)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (optional for depth)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon chili flakes (optional for heat)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Cook Bacon: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook chopped bacon until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Pour off most of the bacon fat, leaving about 1 tablespoon in the pan.
- Caramelize Onion: In the same skillet, add diced onion and cook over medium-low heat for 8–10 minutes until soft and golden.
- Add Peaches and Flavor: Stir in peaches, brown sugar, vinegars, ginger, and chili flakes. Let simmer for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thick and jammy.
- Finish and Store: Stir the bacon back in and cook for another 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Let cool and store in jars in the fridge for up to 1 week.
Notes
Try this jam on burgers, grilled cheese, flatbreads, or crackers. For a smoother texture, pulse briefly in a food processor once cooled. You can freeze it in small jars for up to 3 months!
