Ingredients
- 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (1–1.5 inches thick)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Optional: chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Remove steaks from the fridge and let them sit at room temperature for 20–30 minutes.
- Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
- Add steaks and sear for 3–5 minutes per side (depending on thickness) until desired doneness is reached.
- Reduce heat to medium-low, add butter, garlic, and herbs to the skillet.
- Spoon melted garlic butter over the steaks repeatedly for 1–2 minutes to baste.
- Remove steaks from skillet, let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm with the garlic butter drizzled on top.
Notes
For extra flavor, let the steaks marinate in garlic and herbs for 1–2 hours before cooking. Use a meat thermometer for perfect doneness: 130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium. Serve with roasted vegetables or mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
