- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried thyme or Italian seasoning
- Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

- Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then dredge lightly in flour, shaking off excess.
- Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken 4–5 minutes per side until golden. Remove chicken and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté onions and mushrooms until soft, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 more minute.
- Pour in chicken broth, heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme. Stir to combine and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Return chicken to the skillet, spooning some gravy over the top. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer 10–12 minutes until chicken is cooked through (internal temperature 165°F / 74°C).
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a splash of white wine to the gravy. You can also use cremini mushrooms for a richer taste.
