  • 2 tbsp milk
  • For the Cinnamon Filling
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • For the Vanilla Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  2. Cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  3. Mix in the egg, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix just until a soft dough forms.
  5. Transfer dough to plastic wrap, flatten into a rectangle, and chill for 30 minutes.
  6. Roll dough into a 10×14-inch rectangle.
  7. Mix the melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Spread evenly over the dough.
  8. Roll tightly into a log (like cinnamon rolls). Freeze 20–30 minutes for clean slicing.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  10. Slice the chilled dough into 1/2-inch thick cookies. Place on prepared baking sheets.
  11. Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  12. Let cool completely.
  13. Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled cookies.

Notes

For perfect spirals, freeze the dough log before slicing. Do not overbake—cookies stay softest when the centers look slightly underdone. Add a touch of cream cheese to the glaze for a true cinnamon roll vibe!
